Dont become a slave to the rat race
Most of us can relate our life with this story. It is a typical story with everyone. You dont have a house, you buy one with debt and then work hard to repay the debt. You work harder to get promoted so that you can earn more and pay off the debt.
If you already own a house, you want a second one (a bigger one) not because you need it. You buy it because you want to show it to others. You want to show to others that you are ahead in the race. It goes on and on. We keep buying assets but forget all the time that its people not assets which are important.
Assets (more than what you need ) will not give you a peaceful and happy life.

my experience at Fortis Hospital Noida
Last month, I had a very bad experience at Fortis Hospital Noida.
I had gone there for a medical test. I gave my car keys to the valet and when I came back they could not find my keys. I was made to run here and there for an hour looking for the keys without any luck.
I raised this issue with some Chhaya from Patient Services department. She was very polite, listened to me patiently and tried to help find the keys, but no luck.
The matter took an ugly turn when Bhaskar Sharma, GM of Fortis Noida entered the scene. He asked my contact details which I promptly gave him. He asked me to wait for some more time. I told him that I was already very late for the office and need to rush back. I was planning to go home and get another set of keys. I told him, if he finds the keys, he should send it at my address and asked him if he can provide a letter of apology. He refused to do that. He very clearly said that he will not apologize. He was not even verbally apologetic. I told him that in that case there was nothing else to talk about. He came after me shouting in the corridor, challenging me to do anything I can do about it.
This guy was outrageously rude, ill mannered and lacked basic etiquettes.
I raised this issue with the Dr. Ashok V Chordiya, head of Fortis Hospital Noida. He apologized and promised to look into the matter.
And next day, I got a call from the head of security, Fortis, saying that they have found the keys and he came to my office to give me the keys.
At the end, I am happy I got the keys back but I am still shocked how unprofessional the staff of the hospital is. Bhaskar Sharma, I found his profile at linkedin.
http://www.linkedin.com/pub/bhaskar-sharma/7/6a0/791
He is a MBA..I am not surprised to see that. All he knew was talk, talk and talk. His profile says that he is a specialist in managing customer environment! What a joke..:)

have we ceased to be human?

We were a civilization long time back. We no longer can claim to be a civilized society. This is a new low for our society and am sure, with the kind of progress we are making, we are going to hit new lows.
Any kind of progress, increase in exports, GDP growth, etc. is of no use, unless, we learn to respect our own country men. Grow up people. Learn to live and learn to let people live. Today it was this lady, tomorrow, it could be someone from your family. Shame on you, shame on us.

I met with an accident on 08 Jan
It was on 8th Jan night, when on the way back home, a car hit me near Chankyapuri. What really happened was that I was going around a round-about, when this guy coming from one of the road towards this round-about didn't see the round-about and thinking that it was a straight road banged right into my car. He was ofcourse driving too fast and just could not control and I was unfortunately at the wrong place and at the wrong time.
Well, if I had not been there, I am sure this guy would have surely banged into the round-about wall badly. In a way, I saved his life.
Anyways, my car was badly damaged and this guy not being much applogetic, argued that we should settle the matter peacefully without calling the cops. He showed his visiting card which said that he (Arvind) was some director of IncredibleVoyages.co.in company in Gurgaon. He promised that he will pay for all the cost of repairing my car. I said ok. No probs.
Now after writing to him couple of times, this guy is just not responding to my mails.
His name is Arvind, and he was driving a car with registration UA 07 M 1451.
Any ideas what should be done to these kind of people?

Will write about my thoughts on the topic later. meanwhile, take some time to read this... http://www.lessonsoffailure.com/developers/pervasive-myths-older-software-developers/
@ Logan airport
for any of you guys, if you are ever at Boston airport, you can login to the loganwifi network. It is free and that there are lot of seats where you can also get power supply with options for regular 3 pin socket, USB socket as well.... really impressed with otherwise very boring airport.
